About the role
Responsibilities
- Maintain, service, inspect, and repair combustion-powered automotive vehicles, over-the-road trucks, and light combat vehicles.
- Perform operator, intermediate, and limited major rebuild levels of maintenance, including spot painting.
- Detect faulty items, determine causes of malfunction, and implement best repair methods.
- Assemble, disassemble, repair, or modify various components and systems.
- Read and interpret parts lists, manufacturer and Government repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics.
- Utilize Technical Manuals, Lubrication Orders, and Modification Instructions to repair all rolling stock assets.
- Comply with all established safety standards, quality standards, and time schedules.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Four years of directly related work experience.
- MVAC 609 Technician Certification.
- Valid State Motor Vehicle Operator License.
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC) and Base Access.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate from a vocational school or recognized source in electrical or automotive repair.
- Completion of basic, organizational, and intermediate automotive maintenance courses.
- Completion of advanced motor transport maintenance courses.
- Working knowledge of heavy-duty machinery, engines, hydraulic systems, and transmissions.
