Automation Technician

Responsibilities

• Provide planned automated equipment maintenance and rapid technical response for electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems
• Manage critical spares and perform maintenance on voltage distribution systems, motor control centres, and robotic solutions
• Use and update schematics, software, hardware, and wiring diagrams to ensure compliance with specifications
• Assist in the installation, repair, retrofit, modification, calibration, and testing of electrical/electronic plant facilities
• Coordinate with management, engineering, and contractors for failure analysis and problem resolution on automated systems
• Compile hardware and software justifications and commissions while acting as a focal point for customers and suppliers

Requirements

• Technical craft apprenticeship within a relevant engineering discipline
• Proven industrial experience
• Experience with automated electronic and mechanical systems
• Proficiency with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
• Knowledge of electrical and motor control systems
• Experience with instrumentation systems and Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with robotics
• Experience with Computer Numerical Control (CNC) systems
