Automation Technician

Responsibilities

• Analyze and understand client needs
• Design automated systems and select hardware (control, instrumentation, motor controls, control panel design, etc.)
• Program PLCs and user interfaces
• Participate in system testing and commissioning
• Design and draw industrial control panels
• Calculate power and control panel supply circuits
• Apply the Canadian Electrical Code (Quebec)
• Write technical specifications for control panel production
• Participate in pharmaceutical validation tests (FAT)
• Follow up with equipment suppliers
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary project teams

Requirements

• DEC in industrial electronics
• 3 to 5 years of experience in automated system design or control panel design
• Experience designing automation schematics (power supplies, variable speed drives, PLC, pneumatics, industrial networks, etc.)
• Knowledge of Rockwell suite and Siemens products
• Proficiency in AutoCAD (AutoCAD Electrical is an asset)
• Relevant experience in consulting engineering (pharmaceutical or food) or with system integrators/panel manufacturers
