Automation Systems Technician

Responsibilities

• Manage, repair, and install building automation system components for HVAC, fire, tornado, security, and energy conservation equipment
• Analyze daily HVAC performance to optimize temperature control and energy conservation
• Detect, troubleshoot, and perform emergency repairs (24/7 availability required)
• Design, purchase, and install control systems for new construction and upgrades
• Write software in Siemens proprietary language for equipment control
• Maintain and troubleshoot network communications, servers, computers, and fiber optics
• Provide training for mechanical/electrical technicians and building supervisors

Requirements

• One year postsecondary education in HVAC (or equivalent work experience)
• Four years experience operating a microprocessor-based building automation system
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Windows Administrators software
• Strong communication, planning, and organizational skills
• Ability to establish professional relationships with diverse individuals

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of electric and pneumatic controls and automation control schemes
• Extensive knowledge of Siemens Apogee/Desigo and Designer software
• Experience with server systems, domain LAN administration, and workstation PCs
• Ability to provide classroom-style training to technical staff
