Automation Service Engineer

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site installation, maintenance, upgrades, and repairs for laboratory automation systems including KiestrA, Microbiology, Molecular, and LC/MS.
• Respond promptly to customer needs and resolve technical pain points to ensure instruments meet specifications.
• Drive field service revenue through billable offerings such as preventive maintenance and equipment moves.
• Collaborate with customers to proactively schedule system upgrades and communicate work performed.
• Document all customer complaints and service activities in appropriate systems of record.
• Maintain spare parts inventory, company-issued vehicle, and assigned technical equipment.
• Participate in a weekend/holiday on-call rotation and perform overnight travel as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electronic Technology, Computer Science, Biomedical, or a related discipline, OR 10+ years of relevant troubleshooting experience.
• Strong understanding of electronics, mechatronics, PLCs, and pneumatics.
• Intermediate knowledge of information systems networking architecture and design.
• Ability to work with computer software operating systems and interface with IT personnel.
• Valid state-issued Real ID driver's license with a clean driving history.
• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting 30-40 lbs, bending, kneeling, and climbing ladders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Expertise in Robotics.
• Experience with Liquid Chromatography (LC) and Mass Spec (MS) instrumentation.
• Knowledge of Lab Information Systems (LIS) and database management.
• Professional accreditations such as A+, Microsoft, or Cisco.
• Outstanding customer service and verbal/written communication skills.
