Automation Engineer (Mechanical)

Responsibilities

• Support the design and development of custom automation equipment, fixtures, workstations, and electromechanical systems.
• Create and revise 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, assemblies, and bills of materials.
• Assist with the integration of robotics, machine vision, servo actuators, pneumatic components, and sensors.
• Build, test, troubleshoot, and refine prototype and production equipment in the lab and on the manufacturing floor.
• Support equipment commissioning, factory acceptance testing, site installation, and startup activities.
• Document design changes, test results, and issue tracking in a clear and timely manner.
• Collaborate with controls, electrical, and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable.

Requirements

• BS in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Robotics, or Manufacturing Engineering.
• 1 to 4 years of relevant experience in automation, machine design, or robotics integration.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software.
• Familiarity with automation hardware such as actuators, motors, gearboxes, and pneumatics.
• Basic understanding of robotics, servo motion systems, and industrial controls.
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, assembly drawings, and wiring diagrams.
• Hands-on experience assembling, testing, or troubleshooting electromechanical systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in industrial automation, special machines, or manufacturing equipment.
• Exposure to machine vision systems, industrial cameras, and inspection applications.
• Familiarity with PLC, HMI, and motion control platforms (e.g., Allen Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff).
• Working knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack ups, and design for manufacturability (DFM).
• Understanding of industrial safety standards and machine risk reduction principles.
