Automation Engineer

Responsibilities

• Monitor, fault find, and repair systems to ensure high equipment availability
• Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections on automation, robotics, and control panels
• Troubleshoot out-of-service equipment and act as an escalation point for technicians
• Document all work in the CMMS and ticketing systems
• Mentor maintenance personnel in automation, controls, and robotics
• Lead root cause analysis for major downtime events
• Partner with engineering on the commissioning of new control systems
• Audit vendor work and provide feedback on quality and SLA performance

Requirements

• Qualification or solid practical understanding in Mechatronics, Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering
• Experience in Automation, Mechanical, or Maintenance Engineering, ideally in FMCG or manufacturing
• Proficiency in PLC-controlled systems, including programming and troubleshooting of PLCs, HMIs, and VFDs
• Ability to interpret technical manuals, engineering drawings, and schematics
• Experience with reactive and preventative maintenance and CMMS tasks
• Knowledge of material handling systems and process monitoring
• Experience leading Root Cause Analysis and supporting Continuous Improvement initiatives
• Right to work in the UK required
