About the role
Responsibilities
- Analyze user requirements, process design, and mechanical equipment design to create controls architecture for automated systems.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to translate process requirements into controls designs and methodologies.
- Develop robust code and create intuitive Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) on PC-based platforms.
- Interface with vendors to select components and work with internal IT to implement network connectivity.
- Perform debugging, modification, and testing of new and existing equipment to validate functional requirements.
- Design and implement test plans and perform safety analyses to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with controls resources to ensure hardware, software, and documentation remain in sync via change management tools.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, etc.), Computer Science, or a related degree.
- 3+ years of experience in the development of PC and/or PLC-based systems.
- Experience programming automated machines with controls logic and configuring controls networks.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical and AutoCAD Vault.
- Experience in producing detailed documentation of controls system architecture and specifying compatible hardware.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills using advanced data analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Omron controls hardware and programming.
- Experience producing controls systems that interface with SCADA and MES systems.
- Knowledge of structured text programming and machine safety analyses.
- Experience working with large, geographically diverse project teams.
- Background in the fiber optic industry.
