Automated Distribution Centre Manager

Responsibilities

• Support commissioning, start-up, and transition into steady-state operations, including user acceptance testing and defect identification.
• Hold full accountability for site performance across safety, service, throughput, uptime, and financial outcomes (P&L).
• Manage end-to-end flow across inbound, storage, shuffling, and outbound operations within automated system constraints.
• Lead and build capability within a small 24/7 operations team, focusing on flow control and SOP adherence.
• Act as the primary operational interface with OEMs, automation vendors, WMS/WCS teams, and maintenance partners.
• Drive continuous improvement through root cause analysis and system optimisation to reduce exceptions.

Requirements

• Proven experience in an automated DC, ASRS, or advanced manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of WMS/WCS-driven operations and real-time decision making.
• Technical understanding of automation systems with the ability to troubleshoot mechanical and process issues.
• Experience working within high-risk or automated safety environments.
• Demonstrated capability in P&L management and ownership of site financial outcomes.
• Strong problem-solving skills using Lean, Continuous Improvement, or root cause analysis methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in greenfield start-ups, commissioning, or major operational transformations.
• Tertiary qualification in Supply Chain, Engineering, Logistics, or Manufacturing.
• Formal training in Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
• Current forklift licence or high-risk work exposure.
