About the role
Responsibilities
- Assist the Auto Mechanic with the maintenance of the campus fleet and heavy equipment
- Clean and organize the campus fleet and the auto shop area
- Run for parts and shuttle vehicles to service vendors or DEQ
- Manage parts and inventory, including performing basic data entry
- Perform other relevant tasks as assigned by the Grounds Manager
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to drive University vehicles on campus
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
- Ability to work on your feet and remain mobile for extended periods
- Ability to work in a garage environment (not fully climatized) and comfortable getting dirty
- Must consent to a driving record background check
- Ability to think through and solve problems in real-time
- Ability to learn and abide by all safety policies and procedures
Preferred Qualifications
- Mechanical aptitude and a strong interest in automotive work
- Previous experience with basic vehicle or motorized equipment maintenance
- Previous experience using basic hand tools
