Audio Capture Experience Engineer

Responsibilities

• Evaluate microphone placement options in simulation using COMSOL and proprietary audio tools
• Collect acoustic transfer function data for Far Field, Near Field, and Echo Path settings
• Gather wind noise, clean speech, and speech-in-noise datasets in qualified laboratories
• Execute verification and validation protocols on prototypes to ensure compliance
• Manually tune EQ, Multi-Mic Noise Reduction, Wind Noise Reduction, and Dynamic Range Compression parameters
• Assess acoustic impacts from mechanical changes like port placement and mesh selection
• Produce standardized performance characterization reports and prepare tuning configurations for manufacturing
• Uphold data versioning discipline across interface design variants

Requirements

• BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Acoustics, Physics, or a related field
• 3+ years of experience with acoustic measurement systems like HATS and anechoic chambers
• 3+ years of experience with MATLAB and/or Python for acoustic data processing
• Profound understanding of microphone array theory, transfer functions, and room acoustics
• Knowledge of MEMS microphone specifications and signal processing fundamentals
• Familiarity with DSP fundamentals including biquad filters and frequency domain analysis
• Strong lab discipline and technical communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• MS in Electrical Engineering, Acoustics, or a related field
• Experience with COMSOL Multiphysics acoustic simulations
• Knowledge of beamforming, spatial audio capture, and array signal processing
• Experience with DSP tuning for noise reduction and dynamic range compression
• Experience in consumer electronics NPI cycles, specifically wearables or hearables
• Understanding of acoustic-mechanical interfaces
