About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide regular and ongoing legal advice and comprehensive oversight of legal matters for the Company and its Districts.
  • Review, negotiate, and draft complex construction contracts, including EPC, design-build, and joint venture agreements.
  • Manage major commercial litigation and disputes, performing initial case assessments and risk evaluations.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts to mitigate legal risks.
  • Coordinate with outside counsel and internal resources to resolve claims and disputes.
  • Develop and deliver legal training to the broader organization.
  • Lead strategic management of assigned legal matters in collaboration with senior leadership.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of transactional, corporate, and/or litigation experience.
  • Experience working within a large law firm or an in-house legal department.
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.
  • Active attorney license.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple time-sensitive projects.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to interact with C-Suite executives.
  • Ability to work onsite in Omaha, NE or Lenexa, KS.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in construction law, government contracts, government investigations, environmental law, or labor law.
