Attending Physician - Inpatient Palliative Care

For over 125 years, Calvary Hospital and Calvary @Home located in the Bronx, New York has been dedicated to the palliative care of advanced cancer and other terminally ill patients and their families. Through a caring, compassionate, philosophy of non-abandonment, the hospice provides a full spectrum of palliative services, including emotional, spiritual, and physical care.

Responsibilities

• Provide primary care to patients admitted to Calvary Hospital
• Perform and record history and physical examinations on all admitted patients
• Conduct daily rounds, write orders, and document findings and plans of care
• Maintain ongoing communication with family members regarding prognosis and treatment plans
• Participate in interdisciplinary assessment and care with Nursing, Social Work, and Pastoral Care teams
• Share on-call coverage for weekdays, weekends, and holidays
• Participate in departmental quality review, assessment, and performance improvement
• Elicit recommendations for continuous improvement of patient safety

Requirements

• New York State M.D. License
• Certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine or the American Board of Family Practice
• Medical degree from an approved educational institution
• Competency in caring for patients with advanced cancer
