Attendance Officer

Responsibilities

• Assist administration in monitoring school attendance compliance and investigating violations of compulsory attendance laws.
• Enforce attendance requirements by filing complaints with the Justice of the Peace when necessary.
• Communicate with parents via telephone or home visits regarding student absences and tardiness.
• Conduct home visits to verify proof of residency, HOST, POA, and Grandparent Care Affidavits.
• Maintain detailed student files documenting home visits, residency checks, and conference notes.
• Collaborate with campus attendance clerks and administration to increase Average Daily Attendance (ADA).
• Review six-week attendance reports and submit required documentation to the Office of Admissions, Attendance and Dropout Recovery.
• Assist in monitoring student withdrawals and performing investigative follow-up actions.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Texas Driver's License.
• Proof of Liability Insurance (must be submitted with application).
• Proficient keyboarding and file maintenance skills.
• Ability to use mobile radio, computers, printers, and other standard office equipment.
• Ability to maintain emotional control under stress and communicate effectively with diverse populations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of 30 college hours.
• 2 to 3 years of experience working in a school environment.
