Athletics Communications Intern

Responsibilities

• Assist with game-day operations, including statistical input, live scoring, and media coordination
• Write game recaps, previews, feature stories, and press releases for assigned sports
• Support the maintenance and updates of the athletics website and digital platforms
• Assist with social media content creation and coordination
• Help prepare game notes, media guides, and other athletic publications
• Support the compilation of statistics, records, and historical data
• Assist with credentialing, media requests, and press box operations
• Perform administrative tasks such as data entry and digital asset organization

Requirements

• Current undergraduate or graduate student in communications, journalism, sports management, public relations, or a related field
• Strong writing, editing, and communication skills
• Availability to work nights and weekends, particularly during athletic competitions
• Knowledge of social media platforms and digital content trends
• Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with athletic communications functions and intercollegiate athletics
• Experience with statistics software (e.g., StatCrew, Genius Sports, NCAA Live Stats)
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
