About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical application and administration of healthcare services, including injury prevention, evaluation, management, treatment, and rehabilitation.
  • Serve as a medical liaison between coaching staff, student-athletes, parents, physicians, and other allied health personnel.
  • Maintain medical documentation, record keeping, and inventory management of supplies and equipment.
  • Attend team practices, competitions, strength and conditioning sessions, and other team events as required.
  • Supervise and provide education to students enrolled in the athletic training education program.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures defined by the NCAA, Big Ten Conference, and the University of Michigan.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in athletic training or a related field.
  • Understanding of Big Ten Conference and NCAA rules.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work long hours, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to travel and be on-call as a regular part of the position.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy objects, stand for long periods, and work in various environmental conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Athletic Trainer by the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification (NATABOC).
  • Eligibility for athletic training licensure by the State of Michigan.
  • Familiarity with manual therapy techniques and sport-specific injuries.
  • Experience as an Athletic Training Student preceptor.
  • Working knowledge of electronic medical record systems.
