Athletic Trainer

Responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care using a team approach with physicians, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals
• Perform preliminary evaluations, screen injuries, and refer individuals to physicians as necessary
• Administer therapeutic techniques and modalities including ultrasound, electrostimulation, hydrotherapy, and cryotherapy
• Apply strapping, bandaging, or bracing to prevent and protect athletes from injury
• Assist in the development of rehabilitation and conditioning programs
• Administer first aid to injured athletes and provide emergency medical care
• Support the training and education of students in the athletic training fellowship or internship programs
• Manage patient care orders using electronic ordering systems

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training
• Current licensure as an Athletic Trainer in the State of Michigan

Preferred Qualifications

• NATA BOC certification in athletic training
• Current AHA/BLS CPR certification
• Ability to perform physical tasks including sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling, squatting, walking, and lifting objects up to 100 lbs
