About the role

Responsibilities

  • Administer comprehensive athletic training services including prevention, evaluation, treatment, emergency care, and rehabilitation for student-athletes.
  • Support the women’s wrestling program with initial assignment, providing specialized care and injury risk mitigation.
  • Collaborate with physicians, coaches, sports dietitians, and strength staff regarding injury status and return-to-performance planning.
  • Document all healthcare activities using appropriate medical record-keeping practices in compliance with state regulations.
  • Analyze injury data to identify trends and recommend evidence-based mitigation strategies.
  • Provide clinical supervision and serve as a Preceptor for athletic training students.
  • Perform duties in accordance with NCAA, Big 12, and university policies.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree and at least 1 year of related experience.
  • Certified Athletic Trainer through the Board of Certification (BOC).
  • Current CPR/AED certification.
  • Must hold or obtain Iowa Athletic Trainer licensure within 30 days of hire.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and overnight travel.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in intercollegiate wrestling or USA Wrestling programs.
  • Experience with post-surgical rehabilitation and reconditioning.
  • Experience utilizing performance technologies for injury-risk mitigation.
  • Experience in the care and coordination of REDs risk mitigation.
  • Certification as a Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) through NASM.
  • Experience supervising and mentoring athletic training students.
