About the role
Responsibilities
- Administer comprehensive athletic training services including prevention, evaluation, treatment, emergency care, and rehabilitation for student-athletes.
- Support the women’s wrestling program with initial assignment, providing specialized care and injury risk mitigation.
- Collaborate with physicians, coaches, sports dietitians, and strength staff regarding injury status and return-to-performance planning.
- Document all healthcare activities using appropriate medical record-keeping practices in compliance with state regulations.
- Analyze injury data to identify trends and recommend evidence-based mitigation strategies.
- Provide clinical supervision and serve as a Preceptor for athletic training students.
- Perform duties in accordance with NCAA, Big 12, and university policies.
Requirements
- Master’s degree and at least 1 year of related experience.
- Certified Athletic Trainer through the Board of Certification (BOC).
- Current CPR/AED certification.
- Must hold or obtain Iowa Athletic Trainer licensure within 30 days of hire.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and overnight travel.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in intercollegiate wrestling or USA Wrestling programs.
- Experience with post-surgical rehabilitation and reconditioning.
- Experience utilizing performance technologies for injury-risk mitigation.
- Experience in the care and coordination of REDs risk mitigation.
- Certification as a Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) through NASM.
- Experience supervising and mentoring athletic training students.
