About the role
Responsibilities
- Administer comprehensive athletic training services including prevention, evaluation, treatment, emergency care, and rehabilitation for men’s and women’s cross country and track & field programs.
- Collaborate with physicians, coaches, sports dietitians, and strength staff regarding injury status and return-to-performance planning.
- Partner with medical personnel to optimize care and implement injury risk mitigation measures using performance technologies and protective devices.
- Analyze injury data to identify trends and recommend evidence-based mitigation strategies.
- Document all healthcare activities in compliance with State of Iowa Code and medical record-keeping practices.
- Provide clinical supervision and serve as a Preceptor for athletic training students.
- Perform all duties in accordance with NCAA, Big 12, and university policies.
Requirements
- Master’s degree and 1 year of related experience.
- Current CPR/AED certification.
- Certified Athletic Trainer through the Board of Certification (BOC).
- Must have, or obtain within 30 days of hire, Iowa Athletic Trainer licensure.
- Ability to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and overnight travel.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience providing athletic training to elite or collegiate track/field and cross country athletes.
- Experience delivering comprehensive rehabilitation for post-surgical cases.
- Experience utilizing performance technologies for injury-risk mitigation and return-to-play.
- Experience in the care and coordination of REDs risk mitigation.
- Certification as a Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) through NASM.
- Experience supervising and mentoring athletic training students in clinical settings.
