Athletic Communications Assistant

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary athletic communications contact for assigned varsity sports, including writing game recaps, previews, feature stories, and press releases.
• Attend home athletic events to manage statistical input, post-event reporting, and game operations in accordance with NCAA standards.
• Create and publish digital content across social media and website platforms, including photography, graphics, and short-form video.
• Monitor social media engagement and analytics to support strategic communications efforts.
• Assist in supervising and coordinating student workers assigned to athletic communications and game day operations.
• Collaborate with coaches, administrators, and external relations staff to promote athletic achievements and community engagement.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational ability and attention to detail.
• Ability to work nights and weekends as required by athletic event schedules.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree or enrollment in a graduate program in Sports Management, Communications, Journalism, or Marketing.
• Prior experience in collegiate athletics communications, media relations, or social media management.
• Familiarity with NCAA statistics programs, website management systems, and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Experience with photography, graphic design, or video production.
