Athletic Academic Advisor

Responsibilities

• Provide academic advising and support to ensure student-athletes meet university, conference, and NCAA eligibility requirements.
• Develop individual learning and study plans, including coaching on reading, writing, time management, and test preparation.
• Monitor and evaluate academic progress toward degree completion and major requirements.
• Plan and conduct objective-based study halls and facilitate tutoring recommendations.
• Collaborate with the Compliance Director, coaches, faculty, and administrators to ensure adherence to NCAA and SIAC standards.
• Maintain accurate records of advising meetings and prepare academic progress reports.
• Assist student-athletes with academic and social adjustment issues by making appropriate campus referrals.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree.
• At least one year of experience advising student-athletes at the intercollegiate level.
• Demonstrated experience working with and advising diverse individuals.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with excellent oral and written communication abilities.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and after-hours as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree.
• Three or more years of experience advising student-athletes at the intercollegiate level.
• Experience advising NCAA Division II student-athletes.
• Specific experience monitoring student-athletes regarding NCAA rules for satisfactory progress toward degree completion.
