ASV Operator

Responsibilities

• Conduct hands-on testing of ASVs on the water at lakes and field locations
• Assess vessel performance in real-world environmental conditions
• Collaborate with engineering to define test parameters and troubleshoot issues
• Record and analyze data including navigation accuracy and sensor functionality
• Develop test protocols and provide comprehensive performance reports
• Maintain and prepare support vessels and test equipment for deployment
• Ensure all field testing complies with safety and environmental regulations
• Provide direct feedback to design teams for product optimization

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in a marine environment
• Experience in outdoor field-based testing (robotics, drones, or autonomous systems)
• Hands-on experience with unmanned surface vehicles or small boats
• Technical skills in testing mechanical, electrical, and software systems
• Familiarity with maritime systems (GPS, radar, AIS, cameras)
• Proficiency with test instrumentation and data analysis
• Ability to work independently and perform on-site troubleshooting
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to testing sites
• Ability to work 2nd shift (3:00pm-11:30pm)
• Ability to perform physically demanding work in various weather conditions

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Autonomous Surface Vessels (ASVs) or unmanned systems
• Proficiency with software tools like MATLAB, LabVIEW, or Foxglove
• Knowledge of environmental and safety regulations for outdoor testing
