Astronomy - Part-Time (Adjunct) Faculty

Responsibilities

• Teach astronomy curriculum developed by the department using various instructional modalities
• Plan and organize instruction to maximize student learning and success
• Prepare and provide syllabi for all assigned sections in accordance with college policies
• Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies, including modern educational technology
• Modify instructional methods to meet the needs of a diverse student body
• Evaluate and return student work in a timely manner
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and submit final grade rosters by established deadlines
• Maintain strict confidentiality of student information

Requirements

• Master's degree in astronomy or physics
• 1-2 years of experience teaching astronomy in different modalities (in-person and online)
• Proficiency in using modern educational technology and multimedia-based instruction
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work within a culturally diverse community
• Must reside in or be able to perform work within Ohio, Indiana, or Kentucky

Preferred Qualifications

• Evidence of successful prior teaching experience
• Demonstrated commitment to improving student learning through innovative instructional strategies
