Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of long-term fundamental power market and price forecasts for the UK using advanced linear programming optimisation models
  • Focus on electricity demand outlook, including data collection and forecasting of load drivers like electrification, data centres, and EVs
  • Leverage complex analytical models, including dispatch and market simulation models, to forecast hourly power market prices
  • Build and maintain large datasets of UK power market information including generation assets, demand, and transmission
  • Develop tools and models to streamline the collection, management, and reporting of large datasets
  • Work closely with clients to create customised solutions to their most pressing and complex challenges
  • Participate in client meetings and conference calls to demonstrate and apply solutions

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of relevant work experience, including internships or placement experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Finance, or a related field
  • Experience or demonstrated interest in renewable energy projects, power markets, and the energy transition
  • Strong programming, database, and software skills (Excel, SQL, Python, VBA, Spotfire, or Tableau)
  • Strong analytical ability with familiarity with statistical methods, linear programming, and optimisation concepts

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience or familiarity with the UK power market
  • Experience with electricity market modelling or power market forecasting
