About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead the interface with the business regarding US Investment Tax Credits (ITCs) and Production Tax Credits (PTCs)
- Evaluate potential projects for qualification and advise on compliance obligations and structuring
- Review and advise on tax language in customer and supplier agreements
- Identify and evaluate solutions for structuring transactions to add value or reduce risk
- Support the business in modeling tax impacts of proposed transactions and various structures
- Evaluate potential tax risks, including the need for tax reserves and implications of indemnity or insurance options
- Monitor proposed and enacted legislation to provide technical analysis of impacts on the company
- Partner with and manage outside advisors to support business initiatives
- Support income tax compliance obligations, including preparation of schedules and disclosures for tax reporting
- Manage tax audits related to credits claimed on federal income tax returns
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
- 8-10+ years of corporate US federal income tax experience, including compliance obligations
- Strong working knowledge of US federal tax credits, with a particular emphasis on Section 45Q
- Experience with prevailing wage and apprenticeship requirements from the Inflation Reduction Act
- Experience reviewing tax provisions in customer and supplier agreements
- Understanding of and experience with US GAAP tax reporting and compliance
- Proven ability to work in cross-functional teams and act as a trusted advisor to the business
