Associate Tax Counsel

Responsibilities

• Structure, draft, and negotiate tax aspects of investment management agreements, side letters, and private fund offering documentation
• Advise on tax aspects of structuring various institutional products, including domestic and offshore funds and investment vehicles
• Advise business units regarding marketing, product development, and distribution activities from a US tax perspective
• Collaborate extensively with internal legal, compliance, business development, tax, risk, and operations teams
• Monitor developments in US tax law, AQR’s business, and the investment industry
• Perform technical research and analysis of tax issues

Requirements

• JD with an active license to practice and membership in good standing
• 3-5+ years of experience at a major law firm or institutional asset manager
• Knowledge of tax issues related to investments
• Demonstrated experience supporting business teams and clients
• Excellent oral and written communication, negotiation, and project management skills
• Sound judgment with the ability to work as both a team member and leader
