Associate Synthetic Biologist

Responsibilities

• Execute key biological experiments at the bench including transformation, cloning, and assay work
• Support the development and testing of next-generation synthetic biology tools and protocols
• Prepare stocks, media, and samples and design molecular biology workflows
• Perform analysis, report results, and maintain meticulous documentation
• Partner with a multidisciplinary team of biologists, engineers, and designers

Requirements

• Master's degree in synthetic biology, microbiology, molecular biology, bioengineering, or a related field
• Equivalent years of hands-on bench experience with a Bachelor's degree
• Proficiency with core molecular biology workflows
• Experience with molecular biology design software such as SnapGene or Geneious
• Experience with R and/or Python in a lab environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to work across various biological systems including bacteria, yeast, algae, or plants
• Experience with non-traditional or unusual model organisms
• Exposure to custom and DIY scientific instrumentation
