About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive operational support to the carbon cycle portfolio, including the Virtual Institute of the Carbon Cycle (VICC) and the Carbon Research Frontier Network (C-RFN).
- Manage program operations by maintaining accurate award data, monitoring reporting requirements, and tracking milestone deliverables.
- Assist in the selection and award process, including organizing application materials, coordinating reviews, and supporting due diligence.
- Design and organize effective convenings, workshops, and meetings to build community and accelerate scientific outcomes.
- Develop and maintain standardized operational templates, trackers, and data systems to ensure scalability across programs.
- Facilitate collaboration between awardees, program staff, and external stakeholders to optimize program impact.
- Synthesize scientific and strategic takeaways from events to inform future program development.
Requirements
- 3–6 years of program management experience in high-intensity, team-based environments.
- Experience working within philanthropic, academic, or research-focused organizations.
- Proven ability to manage multiple grant portfolios and coordinate work across diverse teams.
- Strong organizational and project coordination skills with high attention to detail.
- Comfort working with scientific content and the ability to summarize complex information.
- Ability to work onsite in the New York, NY office and travel domestically or internationally as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree or equivalent from an accredited institution.
- Experience collaborating with international scientific research teams or academic institutions.
- Background in a philanthropic organization focused on science, technology, or research funding.
- Demonstrated interest in carbon cycle, climate research, or the broader Earth Science ecosystem.
