About the role

Responsibilities

  • Design, instrument, and execute physical experiments in manufacturing environments to generate high-quality datasets
  • Develop data acquisition and processing pipelines for sensor data, machine telemetry, and images
  • Train, optimize, and deploy machine learning models on edge computing platforms like NVIDIA Jetson or Raspberry Pi
  • Collaborate with manufacturing partners and internal research teams to translate problems into scoped experiments
  • Analyze experimental results and communicate findings through clear visualizations and written reports
  • Contribute to the development of research prototypes demonstrating AI-driven manufacturing capabilities
  • Write robust, testable, and well-documented code

Requirements

  • Recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
  • Hands-on experience with Python and at least one ML framework (PyTorch, TensorFlow, or scikit-learn)
  • Comfort working with hardware, sensors, and physical experimental setups
  • Basic understanding of data acquisition from physical systems (sensors, cameras, serial protocols, APIs)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work through ambiguity
  • Excellent written communication skills for documenting experiments and findings
  • Willingness to work on-site in a manufacturing or lab environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience deploying ML models on edge or embedded devices (NVIDIA Jetson, Coral, microcontrollers)
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, additive manufacturing, or robotics
  • Experience with computer vision tasks like object detection or defect classification
  • Knowledge of IoT protocols and frameworks (MQTT, OPC-UA, ROS)
  • Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure) for data storage and model training
  • Experience with Autodesk products such as Fusion, AutoCAD, or Inventor
