Associate Project Manager I

Responsibilities

• Conduct field visits to identify deficient structural conditions and perform structural analysis
• Prepare design plans, detailed sketches, and repair protocols
• Maintain records of outstanding repair requests and ensure timely completion per NYS DOT guidelines
• Supervise and manage coordination of repair work with external units and governmental entities
• Confirm repairs comply with NYS Construction Specifications and Steel Construction Manual
• Review preliminary capital design drawings for future maintainability
• Perform field visits to bridges, sign structures, and elevated structures using a city vehicle
• Prepare responses to correspondence, provide affidavits, and testify on behalf of the City
• Sign and seal engineering and official documents
• Provide planning, guidance, and review for subordinate engineers and staff

Requirements

• Experience in civil engineering work (4 years preferred, or Master's degree substitution)
• One year of civil engineering experience specifically in bridge design, construction, maintenance, or inspection
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Acrobat, and MS Office suite
• Ability to drive a city-owned vehicle and maintain a valid NYS Driver's License
• Strong organizational and professional communication skills
• Ability to compose formal letters and emails

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in civil engineering
• Valid New York State license as a Professional Engineer
• Experience supervising employees performing project management work
