Associate Professor of Exercise and Sport Science and Department Chair

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic academic leadership and vision for the Exercise and Sport Science, Sport and Fitness Studies, and Sport Management majors.
• Teach a reduced load of undergraduate courses, including Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, and Biomechanics.
• Lead curriculum development, program review, and assessment to ensure alignment with industry trends and student needs.
• Supervise, mentor, and evaluate full-time and part-time faculty members.
• Manage the departmental budget and oversee the Exercise and Sport Science Laboratory operations.
• Develop and sustain external partnerships with employers, alumni, and community organizations to enhance student career pathways.
• Advise and mentor students to foster engagement, belonging, and career readiness.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Exercise and Sport Science, Kinesiology, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution.
• Academic credentials appropriate for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor.
• At least two years of progressively responsible academic leadership or coordination experience.
• Proven experience with curriculum development and assessment.
• Demonstrated success in collaborative faculty leadership and student-centered instruction.

Preferred Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in Exercise and Sport Science, Kinesiology, or a related field.
• Prior experience as a Department Chair or Program Director.
• Experience teaching in both face-to-face and online modalities.
• Experience developing community college transfer pathways or articulation agreements.
• Experience using data to guide program design and growth.
