About the role
Responsibilities
- Greet patients upon arrival and manage wait times effectively
- Complete check-in and check-out tasks, including insurance verification and pre-authorizations
- Collect co-payments, co-insurance, and deductibles and issue receipts
- Answer telephone calls, schedule appointments, and redirect inquiries as appropriate
- Manage medical records by maintaining, filing, and scanning documents
- Assist patients with completing required paperwork such as health history and insurance documentation
- Connect patients with community resources and social services to promote self-care
- Maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1+ years of customer service or healthcare experience
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience working in a medical office position
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Experience working with electronic health records (ECW)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, and Word)
- Knowledge of insurance carriers and managed care plans
