About the role

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner
  • Verify insurance information, addresses, and phone numbers, and register new patients
  • Answer incoming phone calls, direct calls, and take messages
  • Schedule appointments and respond to the needs of patients and callers
  • Assist new clients with paperwork, including explaining forms and obtaining necessary signatures and consents
  • Process payments for co-pays, deductibles, co-insurance, self-pay, and missed appointment fees
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and secure sensitive information in compliance with HIPAA privacy laws
  • Manage a work queue to complete pending actions such as referrals and scheduling
  • Perform clerical duties including copying, faxing, and filing
  • Use electronic health record systems (Athena) to manage patient data and schedules
  • Coordinate with the provider team regarding patient arrivals and potential schedule conflicts

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1+ years of computer proficiency, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • 1+ years of customer experience in a medical or mental health office setting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of medical terminology
  • Proven ability to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences
  • Ability to accomplish multiple tasks in an environment with frequent interruptions
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
