About the role
Responsibilities
- Verify and update patient demographics, consent forms, and other essential documentation
- Schedule patient appointments accurately according to department protocols and provider preferences
- Manage patient check-out processes and update Department Appointment Reports
- Provide patient education regarding appointment instructions, estimates, and billing concerns
- Resolve inquiries regarding clinic schedules, prescription refills, and appointment rescheduling
- Document all patient information accurately within the electronic medical record (EMR) system
- Process incoming and outgoing insurance referral requests and coordinate with providers and patients
- Educate patients on basic insurance concepts including co-payments, co-insurance, and prior authorizations
- Manage department mail, faxes, and electronic in-basket encounters in a timely manner
- Escalate urgent patient-related issues to nursing, providers, or leadership as necessary
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- 6+ months of customer service or healthcare-related experience
- Ability to work onsite in Milford, MA (101 Cedar Street)
- Ability to work a Monday through Friday schedule (8:30 AM - 5:00 PM)
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience in a medical front office role
- Proficiency with Epic EMR software
- Basic computer proficiency
- Foundational understanding of insurance concepts and medical terminology
