About the role
Responsibilities
- Greet and check in/out patients in a professional and courteous manner
- Verify patient demographics and insurance information
- Collect outstanding balances, co-pays, deductibles, and co-insurances
- Schedule future appointments and manage patient medical forms
- Maintain medical records through filing, faxing, and scanning
- Perform general clerical duties including mail sorting and work queue management
- Reconcile cash drawer daily and follow payment security policies
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all practice policies
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1+ year of customer service or healthcare-related experience
- 1+ year of proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, etc.)
- Ability to work a 40-hour work week including rotating holidays and weekends (Saturdays and Sundays)
- Flexibility to provide coverage at other locations when necessary
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ year of experience in a medical office role (scheduling, insurance verification, etc.)
- Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records (EMR), specifically eClinicalWorks (eCW)
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Familiarity with insurance carriers and managed care plans
