About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform arithmetic calculations for machinery assembly verification, stress and strain calculations, and test data validation
- Follow detailed instructions and aerospace industry quality procedures within a laboratory environment
- Use Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint to record test data and maintain laboratory supplies and project records
- Prioritize multiple time-sensitive tasks to meet research goals
- Work closely with senior staff and peers to complete technical assignments
- Utilize hand tools and measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers
Requirements
- Associate degree in a relevant field
- Proficiency in basic algebra and trigonometry, including SI/US customary units
- Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in hands-on technical work
- Ability to lift and move materials or equipment up to 40 lbs
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- U.S. citizenship is required due to federal research contract requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with data acquisition systems and instrumentation (e.g., Extensometry, Digital Image Correlation, Strain Gages, LVDT’s)
- Experience in data reduction and analysis techniques
- Machine shop experience, including basic tooling and jig design/fabrication
- Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015, 17025, or NADCAP quality system practices
