Associate Mechanical Technician

Responsibilities

• Perform arithmetic calculations for machinery assembly verification, stress and strain calculations, and test data validation
• Follow detailed instructions and aerospace industry quality procedures within a laboratory environment
• Use Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint to record test data and maintain laboratory supplies and project records
• Prioritize multiple time-sensitive tasks to meet research goals
• Work closely with senior staff and peers to complete technical assignments
• Utilize hand tools and measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers

Requirements

• Associate degree in a relevant field
• Proficiency in basic algebra and trigonometry, including SI/US customary units
• Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in hands-on technical work
• Ability to lift and move materials or equipment up to 40 lbs
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• U.S. citizenship is required due to federal research contract requirements

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with data acquisition systems and instrumentation (e.g., Extensometry, Digital Image Correlation, Strain Gages, LVDT’s)
• Experience in data reduction and analysis techniques
• Machine shop experience, including basic tooling and jig design/fabrication
• Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015, 17025, or NADCAP quality system practices
