Associate Laboratory Microbiologist

Responsibilities

• Supervise, hire, train, and evaluate laboratory staff and trainees
• Manage daily laboratory operations and outbreak event coordination
• Plan and supervise laboratory services regarding regulatory standards
• Prioritize and monitor work to optimize operational service
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory and safety standards
• Manage laboratory inventory, storage, and supplies
• Perform high and moderate complexity laboratory testing on clinical and environmental specimens
• Generate reports and maintain accurate laboratory records
• Maintain quality control and quality assurance programs

Requirements

• Baccalaureate degree in medical technology or chemical, physical, or biological sciences
• One year of laboratory experience at the technologist level
• Or 90 college credits with specific chemistry and biology course requirements plus one year of experience
• Eligibility for a New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist License

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a clinical or environmental diagnostic testing laboratory
• Experience supervising in an environmental laboratory setting
