About the role
Responsibilities
- Review, approve, and sign-out reports for clinical molecular, cytogenetic, and oncologic results
- Oversee the review of genetic and CNV variant data using NGS results and medical literature
- Provide clinical and technical support for genetic counselors and laboratory personnel
- Set and maintain standards for laboratory testing and analytic performance
- Analyze lab data and contribute to scientific publications
- Serve as Technical Supervisor, ensuring appropriate test method selection, verification, and proficiency testing compliance
- Manage and mentor a team of laboratory personnel
Requirements
- MD/DO and/or PhD in genetics or a related field
- Current California license or eligibility as a Clinical Genetic Molecular Biologist Scientist or Clinical Cytogeneticist Scientist
- ABMGG board certification in Molecular Genetics, Cytogenetics, Laboratory Genetics and Genomics, or ABP board certification in Molecular Genetic Pathology
- Two or more years of experience in a CLIA-certified clinical laboratory setting
- Knowledge of CAP, CLIA, and California/New York state regulations
Preferred Qualifications
- Current Certificate of Qualification in Genetic Testing and Molecular Tumor Markers from the NYS CLEP
- Experience leading a laboratory offering NGS-based oncology testing
