Associate General Counsel

Responsibilities

• Own the full legal function, covering commercial contracts, corporate governance, employment, data privacy, and regulatory compliance
• Serve as the primary legal partner to the CEO, CBO, and executive team, advising on strategic initiatives, partnerships, and intellectual property
• Draft, negotiate, and close a wide range of agreements including enterprise contracts, vendor deals, and financing-related documents
• Build scalable legal infrastructure, including contract templates, playbooks, and internal approval workflows
• Advise on employment and people matters as the company scales
• Manage outside counsel strategically to ensure efficient spend and high-quality outcomes
• Shape the legal and regulatory approach to AI products, data licensing, and model usage
• Lead legal operations transformation by leveraging AI tools to automate low-leverage work and accelerate contract review

Requirements

• JD from an accredited law school and active bar membership (NY preferred)
• 10+ years of legal experience, including time at a top-tier law firm and in-house at a high-growth tech company
• Broad generalist expertise across commercial, corporate, employment, privacy, and regulatory matters
• Deep familiarity with the evolving legal landscape surrounding AI, including IP and data considerations
• Strong commercial instincts and the ability to provide decisive guidance to leadership
• Low ego, high ownership mentality with a willingness to be hands-on
