Associate General Counsel, Data Licensing

Responsibilities

• Provide legal leadership on global strategic data initiatives involving retail data, measurement, and identity.
• Structure, draft, and negotiate complex commercial agreements with major global data suppliers, focusing on data licensing and usage rights.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with business development, product, privacy, and policy teams to develop creative legal solutions.
• Improve legal templates, playbooks, and processes to support global scaling and efficiency.
• Identify and mitigate risks related to intellectual property, data security, and privacy laws.
• Mentor other attorneys and provide practical advice on complex agreement structures and company policies.

Requirements

• 8+ years of legal experience (in-house or at a nationally/internationally recognized law firm).
• Juris Doctorate (JD) degree.
• Bar admission in New York, Illinois, or California (or ability to register as In-House Counsel in these states).
• Significant experience leading legal negotiations with large global companies.
• Expertise in structuring, drafting, and negotiating commercial technology agreements.
• Exceptional critical thinking and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in digital advertising or digital media.
• Deep technical understanding of adtech data flows and technology.
