About the role

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate and draft agreements with state and local government customers, including counties, cities, towns, and school districts.
  • Negotiate and draft agreements with vendors, including suppliers, manufacturers, and consultants.
  • Serve as a primary legal partner to revenue leadership on deal strategy, pricing structures, and risk allocation.
  • Act as a deal desk for complex or high-value transactions by coordinating input from sales, finance, operations, and compliance.
  • Design, maintain, and improve contract templates, clause libraries, and playbooks to drive efficiency.
  • Manage and mitigate legal risks by auditing and implementing company policies and procedures.
  • Provide practical legal advice to sales, finance, leadership, and HR teams.
  • Support RFP processes and ensure alignment with procurement laws and public disclosure rules.

Requirements

  • JD or LL.M degree.
  • Bar admission in at least one U.S. state.
  • Minimum of 8 years of commercial contracting experience with a focus on state and local government agencies.
  • Proven experience in state and/or local government contracting laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and PowerPoint.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound judgment decisions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior in-house experience supporting a sales or revenue organization in a growth-stage or technology company.
  • Background in automated enforcement, ALPR, smart city, or public safety technology contracting.
  • Experience with RFP processes and associated legal requirements.
  • Experience using contract management software.
  • Prior people management experience.
