About the role

Responsibilities

  • Carry out research on specific legal questions primarily related to International Humanitarian Law (IHL)
  • Review various legal documents and prepare draft reports or minutes of meetings
  • Contribute to the preparation of professional meetings and events
  • Monitor current developments in online and academic discourse related to IHL
  • Support various units including Thematic Legal Advisers, Advisory Service on IHL, and the Privileges and Immunities team

Requirements

  • Master's degree in public international law (or equivalent university studies)
  • Excellent knowledge of IHL (demonstrated through coursework or moot court participation)
  • Knowledge of International Human Rights Law, Refugee Law, Criminal Law, or related fields
  • Maximum of one year of professional experience related to international law since graduation
  • Fluency in English (C1 level)
  • B2 level proficiency in at least one of the following: Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in government, military, or international organizations
  • Background in international relations, humanitarian policy, or arms control and disarmament
  • Strong legal research, drafting, and analytical skills
