Associate Food Scientist

Responsibilities

• Execute formulations and perform benchtop experiments for new beverage concepts
• Create small-batch prototype runs ensuring accuracy and flavor consistency
• Manage day-to-day beverage lab operations including equipment maintenance and inventory
• Maintain detailed records of formula development, sensory feedback, and experimental results
• Assist in organizing sensory analysis panels and product testing
• Collaborate with Hardware and Quality teams to monitor product stability
• Identify and source new ingredients and coordinate with vendors
• Assist in translating prototypes into formal technical specifications for manufacturing

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or related field
• 1–3 years of experience in a lab setting
• Solid understanding of food chemistry and ingredient functionality
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• High degree of accuracy in measurement and documentation
• Ability to be in the office 4 days per week in Boston
• Willingness to travel approximately 10%

Preferred Qualifications

• Understanding of preservative systems and microbial testing
• Familiarity with concentrated beverage products or flavor chemistry
• Experience using pH meters, refractometers, and carbonation tools
