About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform professional-level fire protection engineering services including life safety code consulting, sprinkler design, and fire alarm design under the direction of a P.E.
- Develop plans, specifications, and inspection reports to ensure accuracy and adherence to professional standards.
- Assist in resolving design problems through field investigations, detailed design work, and checking design computations.
- Identify and reference applicable codes and standards to evaluate inquiries and project requirements.
- Conduct building code analyses, egress analyses, and reviews of fire detection, smoke control, and water supply systems.
- Apply engineering calculations for means of egress, maximum allowable building area, and hydraulic calculations for sprinkler systems.
- Communicate effectively with project team members, clients, and stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (B.S.) or higher in Fire Protection, Mechanical, Civil, or Architectural Engineering (or a related engineering field).
- 0-3 years of experience in an engineering capacity.
- Effective written and oral communication skills for report writing, presentations, and client interaction.
- Strong problem-solving and reasoning skills with a self-starter mentality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong interest or previous experience specifically in fire protection engineering.
- A passion for advancing the science of safety and exceeding client expectations.
