About the role

Responsibilities

  • Perform civil engineering work related to roadways, drainage, bridges, and traffic engineering.
  • Prepare specifications, cost estimates, and contracts for construction and professional services.
  • Develop grant applications and submittals to secure funding for infrastructure projects.
  • Manage capital improvement projects and oversee the work of consultants and contractors.
  • Conduct traffic engineering studies and investigate accidents to recommend safety adjustments.
  • Design new roads, improvements to existing roads, and drainage features like low-water crossings.
  • Review subdivision submittals and development plans for compliance with statutes, codes, and regulations.
  • Perform field reviews and inspections of engineering and roadway maintenance projects.
  • Communicate with the public and stakeholders regarding proposed engineering changes and impacts.
  • Assist the County Engineer in managing the Engineering Division of Public Works.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Experience in Civil Engineering, Construction, Traffic Engineering, or Land Development.
  • Knowledge of civil engineering principles and roadway design/maintenance.
  • Valid Arizona driver's license.
  • Knowledge of contract administration, procurement processes, and relevant local/state/federal regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
