Associate Engineer

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and fix software and hardware issues across InstaCore devices including cameras, sensors, compute, firmware, and power
• Use AI coding agents like Cursor, Claude Code, and Codex to accelerate scripting, log analysis, and tool-building
• Perform device bring-up, flash firmware, provision devices, and support calibration workflows
• Build and improve diagnostic scripts and automation tools to detect and resolve failures
• Document recurring failure modes and write clear Root Cause Analysis (RCA) notes
• Partner with robotics engineering, field operations, and QA teams to improve hardware reliability

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
• 0-2 years of professional engineering experience
• Proficiency in Python and/or C/C++
• Experience using AI coding agents (Cursor, Claude Code, or Codex) in daily workflows
• Hands-on debugging skills with Linux shells, logs, firmware flashing, and basic lab tools like multimeters or serial consoles
• Understanding of embedded systems and robotics concepts (microcontrollers, UART/I2C/SPI/CAN, or ROS)
• Ability to thrive in a fast-moving startup environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with camera systems and calibration (OpenCV, ArUco/ChArUco)
• Knowledge of ROS/ROS2, SLAM, or computer vision
• Experience with Jetson SBCs or embedded Linux/FreeRTOS
• Hardware skills including PCB bring-up, soldering, or EDA tools like Altium
• Background in competition robotics (e.g., ROBOCON)
