About the role

Responsibilities

  • Support hardware, firmware, and software development of electro-optical systems at the Starfire Optical Range.
  • Use and troubleshoot electronic circuitry with devices such as voltmeters, DMMs, logic analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
  • Gather requirements, develop designs, create schematics and layouts, and maintain boards/systems in cooperation with customers.
  • Create and maintain documentation for architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and digital/system designs.
  • Provide electrical constraint information for Printed Circuit Board (PCB) layout and support.
  • Set up and configure test environments for embedded systems and troubleshoot firmware/software issues.
  • Develop test procedures and document results to ensure embedded system requirements are met.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry.
  • 2+ years of experience with Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design.
  • 1+ years of experience programming in C or C++.
  • 1+ years of experience programming in Java or Python.
  • Ability to work variable shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
  • Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required).

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of related work experience.
  • Active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
  • Experience with integrated CAD tools such as OrCAD or PADS.
  • Proficiency in AMD/Xilinx Vitis and Vivado IDE.
  • Experience in creating and maintaining technical documentation including specifications, BOMs, and ECOs.
  • Experience with various testing methodologies (black box, white box, integration, and system testing).
  • Experience in performance analysis using tools such as MATLAB or Mathematica.
