About the role
Responsibilities
- Support and advance the EHS program at the San Carlos pharmaceutical research and corporate office location.
- Perform hazard, risk, exposure, and ergonomic assessments and track them through closure using enterprise EHS software.
- Develop and implement EHS programs including Injury & Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), Chemical Hygiene Plan, and Emergency Action Plans.
- Ensure compliance with Cal/OSHA, federal OSHA, DTSC, and local CUPA requirements.
- Serve as a day-to-day EHS resource for laboratory staff, providing guidance on safe work practices.
- Conduct incident investigations involving biological exposures, chemical spills, and injuries, including root cause analysis.
- Support biosafety program implementation for BSL-2 laboratories in alignment with CDC/NIH guidance.
- Lead EHS Committee, Emergency Response Team (ERT), and audit teams.
- Perform industrial hygiene assessments and testing or oversee third-party sampling efforts.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, or technology with 4+ years of experience, or a Master's degree with 2 years of experience.
- Strong knowledge of Cal/OSHA and federal OSHA regulations.
- Experience in a biotech research lab, GLP operational setting, or engineering services firm.
- Fluency in English (written and verbal).
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certifications such as CSP, CHMM, CIH, or EMT.
- HAZWOPER, First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications.
- Proficiency in Spanish.
- Experience utilizing EHS platforms like Velocity EHS.
