Associate Director - Technology Ventures

Responsibilities

• Oversee the strategic management of a portfolio of spinouts to ensure alignment with industry trends and investment opportunities
• Conduct market analysis to identify commercialization pathways and strategic industry positioning for new ventures
• Cultivate relationships with university inventors to understand the technical and business potential of research
• Provide coaching and mentoring to researchers on venture formation, business development, and resource navigation
• Design and implement programs that provide resources and support to the academic entrepreneurial community
• Build and maintain a talent network of subject matter experts, advisors, and potential management team members
• Manage data collection and reporting to demonstrate the impact of the Center for Research Innovation

Requirements

• Advanced degree in a related field, such as a PhD or MBA
• Significant experience in technology transfer, research translation, or entrepreneurship
• Demonstrated leadership skills in cross-team collaboration and venture creation
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage researchers, investors, and industry partners
• Strategic thinking skills with the ability to drive initiatives while maintaining operational detail
• Experience in portfolio management and conducting market analysis

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the science industry or related commercialization sectors
• Knowledge of university technology transfer processes and entrepreneurial ecosystems
• Proven ability to develop investable business plans and identify funding opportunities
