Associate Director, Tax

Responsibilities

• Manage annual and quarterly tax GAAP and Statutory tax provision processes.
• Review U.S. federal, state, and local tax returns and estimates for corporate holding companies and insurance subsidiaries.
• Manage relationships with external consultants and vendors regarding tax compliance and reporting.
• Ensure the integrity of tax accounting results by partnering with the Finance Transformation Team and utilizing technology solutions.
• Manage tax responses to audits and notices, including correspondence with internal and external parties.
• Lead the preparation of financial data and analysis to support tax forecasting and strategic projects.
• Partner with various Finance and business departments to address tax issues and meet organizational goals.
• Develop and implement tax strategies and automation processes to refine compliance and provide analytical insights.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or 4 years of commensurate experience.
• 7+ years of tax experience in a public accounting firm or a corporate tax department.
• Strong knowledge of ASC 740.
• Proficiency in applying tax codes and regulations.
• 3+ years of experience in a team leadership role.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA certification and/or a Master's of Taxation.
• Experience with Statement of Statutory Accounting Principle (SSAP) 101 reporting.
• Knowledge of domestic tax issues specifically affecting U.S. insurance companies.
• Experience implementing tax provision software.
• Ability to work with large datasets to build models and leverage analytical tools.
• Experience with state tax nexus considerations.
